Eco-Challenge 8.0 is the special category on environmental innovation of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas. Eco-Challenge supports young people from Latin America and the Caribbean to develop environmental solutions and become sustainable businesses.
This program is organized by the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), PepsiCo and the Organization of American States with support from CBC in Central America and Postobón in Colombia.
On this edition of Eco-Challenge, we are looking for young entrepreneurs between 18 and 34 years old that have innovative business solutions, that are scalable, that promote sustainable development in our region and are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Finalists will travel to the where the Finals will be held and have a chance to compete for seed capital, among other benefits.
1- Sustainable Agriculture (fruits or vegetables & fruits):
A. The sustainable reuse of agricultural bio-products (banana peels, orange peels, potato skins, coconut shells, etc.)
B. Innovative strategies for the adaptation of agriculture to climate change
2- PET and BOPP Recycling and Collection:
A. Feasible solutions for reuse and/or recollection of PET material
B. Feasible solutions for reuse and/or recollection of BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) material
3- Access to Water:
A. Access to safe water (for example, rainwater collection & filtration)
B. Innovative solutions for the conservation of water and its efficient use in agriculture
- Must be between 18 and 34 years old.
- Be a citizen of a Latin American or Caribbean country.
- Have innovative business proposals that answer to one of the three Eco-Challenges.
To successfully participate in the competition, you must submit before January 15, 2017 the following:
Project Plan that proposes a scalable and sustainable solution to one of the three Eco-Challenges, the Project Plan must include the following sections:
