V - Teams/Eligibility

Teams registering for TIC Americas must be citizens or legal residents of the OAS member countries and must be legally authorized to start and operate a business in their country.

Teams registering for the Eco-Challenge category within TIC Americas must be citizens or legal residents of the United States, Latin America or the Caribbean.

All team members (excluding mentors) must be between 18 and 34 years of age by 5:00 PM, January 15, 2019. Proof of age will be required for finalists.

Since much of the competition and communication is through the Internet, access to the Internet during the competition is recommended to ensure full participation.

Multinational Teams may compete.  Multinational Teams are the ones that consist of more than one nationality. A Team with multinational members will be considered to be from the country where the CEO is a citizen or permanent resident.

TIC Americas Teams may be comprised of a minimum of one and a maximum of ten members, which must include the following roles, in the case of more than one member:

  • Chief Executive Officer.
  • Chief Financial Officer.
  • Chief Technical Officer.


  • If the team consists of only one member, this must be the CEO.
  • YABT Staff, National Chapters, Officials, Board of Directors, PepsiCoStaff, and sponsors, as well as their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
