I.I Evaluation Scale:

Business Plans will be evaluated on the following criteria with points assigned from 0 to 5 following this rating scale: 

0

= Does not meet the criteria at all or attempt to – Unacceptable.

1

= Meets some criteria but unacceptable - Very poor.

2

= Meets the criteria minimally – Poor.

3

= Meets the criteria but does not exceed it – Adequate.

4

= Meets criteria and substantially exceeds it – Good.

5

= Meets criteria and demonstrates highest excellence and superiority – Excellent.


 

I.II Business Plan Technical Review

Maximum 65 points – Maximum 5 points each section

1. Innovation - Maximum points = 15

• The product/service responds to the challenge proposed

• Demonstrates improvement in the Business process

• The business idea demonstrates improvements by introducing something new/different

 

2. Market Feasibility - Maximum points = 15

• Demonstrates the market for the company's product/service

• Understands the market and identifies the customers

• States that the product/service will be competitive to achieve a leadership position in its market

 

3. Management Feasibility - Maximum points = 15

• Integrates the resources with its development strategies

• Clearly defines the organizational structure

• Combines technology with the production process

 

4. Financial Feasibility - Maximum points = 15

• States its funding strategy

• Justifies the return of investment

• Analyzes its cost structure/financial and investment forecast

 


I.III Video, Website and Prototype

Maximum 35 points – Maximum 5 points each section

1. Promotional Video - Maximum points = 10

• How effectively does the promotional video present the product / service benefits responding to the challenge proposed?

• How well does the promotional video incorporate the corporate image of the business?

 

2. Website or online presence - Maximum points = 10

• How effective does the website inform about the product/service?

• How creatively does the website outreach the target audience?

 

3. Prototype - Maximum points = 15

• The prototype demonstrates the product/services features/characteristics and responds to the challenge proposed

• How well does the Team present a credible and / or functioning prototype?

• How well does the prototype demonstrate innovative design / functionality?

I.II. Business Plan Technical Review

Scoring Elements

1. Innovation - Maximum Points = 20

• The project presents a creative, affordable, feasible solution to one of the four challenges of this year’s competition

• The project should bring an innovative solution (though it can be an adaptation or improvement of an existing solution)

 

2. Market Feasibility - Maximum Points = 20

• Addresses specific needs

• Demonstrates the feasibility of implementing the project in developing countries and with limited resources

 

3. Management Feasibility - Maximum Points = 15

• Provides an implementation plan for developing countries

• Demonstrates how the community can take ownership of the project and maintain it in a sustainable way

• Demonstrates opportunities to replicate the project in other countries or regions

 

4. Financial and Investment Feasibility - Maximum Points = 20

• Demonstrates efficiency in its financial structure and forecast

• Demonstrates an investment opportunity for the industry to support the development of the solution, project or idea

 

5. Overall Business Project Presentation Maximum Points = 10

• Visual materials to present the project (video, photos, graphs, website, etc.)

• Presents all requirements in a clear and complete form

 

6. Website or online presence - Maximum Points = 15

How efficient and creative is the website to inform about the product / service and achieve the reach for the target audience?

A. Business Project Final Presentation (Maximum 75 points)

1.

Business Project – Maximum points = 25, i.e. 5 points each

 

 

  • How feasible is the business idea in real market conditions?

  • How well does the overall business plan present the idea and its elements?

  • How well does the idea respond to the challenge?

  • How clear is the scalability strategy?

  • How well is the risk management/mitigation explained? 

 

 

 

 

2.

Presentation– Maximum points = 20, i.e. 5 points each

 

 
  • How effectively and compellingly does the team present the project?

  • How well does the presentation demonstrate personal teamwork and cooperation?

  • How clear is the verbal presentation of the business idea and activities?
  • How attractive is the visual presentation when displaying graphic elements to expose the business idea and activities?

 

 

 

 

3.

Promotional Video – Maximum points = 10, i.e. 5 points each

 

 

  • How effective does the promotional video sell the product / service?

  • How well does the promotional video present an image of quality for the business?

 

 

 

 

4.

Prototype– Maximum points = 15, i.e. 5 points each

 

 

  • The prototype demonstrates the product/services features/characteristics
  • How well does the Team present a credible and / or functioning prototype?
  • How well does the prototype demonstrate innovative design / functionality?

 

 

 

 

5.

Elevator Speech– Maximum points = 5 points total

 

 

  • How well does the Elevator Speech summarize the business idea?

 

 

B. Financial and Investment Feasibility  (Maximum 25 points)

 

    • Demonstrates efficiency in its financial structure and forecast - 10 points
    • Demonstrates an investment opportunity for the industry to support the development of the solution,  project, or idea - 10 points
    • Explains well the Return of Investment opportunity - 5 points
 

 

Comments:

The judges can include a brief description of their observations and analysis.
